最近工作不忙，一口气看完了尼古拉斯·斯帕克思的《分手信》（Dear John）英文原著，然后又从当当网上订了中译本，发现翻译得还不错。译者是台大外文系毕业，从事翻译多年，现于英国渥里克大学攻读博士学位。

尼古拉斯的这部《分手信》雄踞《纽约时报》畅销书排行榜第一名逾一年，其写作手法极为细腻，语言通俗流畅，所用英语也极为平易，国内具有初中级英语水平的读者就能完全阅读！老张再次领略到“平易英语”的魅力！ 

尼古拉斯作品的一大特色就是里面经常会出现大段的书信或情书，老张随即选了一封和大家分享，看看人家是如何用平易英语来写情书的： 

Dear John,

亲爱的约翰： 

There's so much I want to say to you, but I'm not sure where I should begin. Should I start by telling you that I love you? Or that the days I've spent with you have been the happiest in my life? Or that in the short time I've known you, I've come to believe that we were meant to be together? I could say all those things and all would be true, but as I reread them, all I can think is that I wish I were with you now, holding your hand and watching for your elusive smile.

好多事想告诉你，不过不确定应该从哪里开始。是不是应该先说我我爱你？还是要告诉你，我们在一起的时光是生命中最美好的一段？还是要说，认识你短短几天，我就确定我们是命中注定要在一起？这些都是我想说的的话，而且都是认真的，可是重读这些话，只希望我两个现在可以在一起，可以握住你的手，等着你在不经意的时候对我微笑。 

In the future, I know I'll relive our time together a thousand times. I'll hear your laughter and see your face and feel your arms around me. I'm going to miss all of that, more than you can imagine. You're a rare gentleman, John, and I treasure that about you. In all the time we were together, you never pressed me to sleep with you, and I can't tell you how much that meant to me. I'll think about you every day. Part of me is scared that there will come a time when you don't feel the same way, that you'll somehow forget about what we shared, so this is what I want to do. I want you to think about me and the week we shared, because wherever I am and no matter what's going on in my life, that's exactly what I'll be doing.
